What is in-mold coating?

It is a process where forming and coating are done at the same time.

In-mold coating can reduce manufacturing processes, workers and cost. In addtition, mirror-like surface can be obtained.
It is possible to use such paints for resin outer panels as coating materials to give resistance to weather.
As atomized spray is used in the coating process, there is almost no restriction on design like film decoration method.

Process Comparison

(New Process)
■ Painting
(Conventional Process)

By using in-mold coating process, manufacturing cost will be reduced
to a large extent!

Surface Comparison

■ In-mold Coating
(New Process)
■ Painting
(Conventional Process)
  • Coated layer is inside of the surface of article.
  • The surface is flat becasue it is the copy of mold surface.
  • No need to use primer
  • Coating material is sprayed onto the mold surface whose temperature is 40 to 80 degrees centigrade.
  • Painted layer is on the surface of article.
  • Painted surface tends to be like orange peel.
  • Primer is necessary.
  • Paint is sprayed onto the surface at ordinary temperature.

In-mold coating is the process where urethane forming and coating are done at the same time!

In-mold coating enables cost-down, weatherability and time reduction in manufacturing.
